Tunnel Construction Ventilation Monitoring System Based on Fieldbus Technology

Aiming at the situation of lacking automation and informatization for the tunnel construction ventilation, this article proposed a monitoring system based on the fieldbus technology. The monitoring system consisted of three parts including the monitor cabinet, the local control cabinet and the fieldbus sensors. A monitoring program, which was written by the WinCC software, ran on the monitor cabinet. All the environmental parameters and working parameters could be displayed in the monitoring program. Meanwhile, a Programmable Logical Computer (PLC) was used as the master station of the Modbus network, which collected all the parameters from all the slave station sensors. In the local control cabinet, a PLC was used to receive all the parameters from the master station, and display them on the local screen. The transducer which drove the ventilator was also a slave station receiving the control signal from the master station to change the airflow. This system was tested at the construction ventilation project department in Tianmu mountainous tunnel. The result showed that this system improved the automation and informatization level of the tunnel construction ventilation monitoring system and reduced the cost of tunnel construction ventilation.
