CuO/A1/Cu2O nanoenergetic arrays are synthesized on silicon substrate with CuO nanowires as the core, Al and Cu2O as the shells.The CuO nanowires are prepared on silicon substrate by thermal oxidation of copper thin film.A1 is then deposited onto the CuO nanowires by thermal evaporation.For studying the oxidation of Al in long-term storage, an additional layer of Cu2O is deposited onto the A1 shell to prevent the Al from oxidation in dry air. The CuO/Al/Cu2O core/double-shell arrays are characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry.The storage stability of CuO/Al/Cu2O core/double-shell arrays is tested by observing the changes in heat release after a period of storage in dry air condition, and comparing with that of CuO/Al core/shell arrays.It is proved that the Cu2O acting as the protective shell can prevent the Al shell from further oxidation in dry air and thus extend the shelf life.
