Query driven process execution in wireless sensor network (WSN) are of either idempotent or non-idempotent in nature. Prior identification of idempotent queries on the basis of their spatial and temporal attributes can reduce in-network process executions, application end-to-end (E2E) delay, and consequential energy savings. The paper proposes a reply-cache mechanism at the gateway node. Simulation results show the arrangement at the gateway node resulted in 41.17% of energy savings and 78.37% improvement in E2E delay.
