摘要

Metro Vancouver, BC MoE and TransLink commissioned a comprehensive evaluation of strategies to reduce traffic-related air pollution exposure in British Columbia. With input from a steering committee of air quality professionals, municipal planners and engineers, transportation professionals, medical health officers and local air quality-health researchers, the evaluation assessed each strategy based on its effectiveness at reducing exposure, feasibility and potential to achieve co-benefits. Although this multi-variate evaluation technique yielded only qualitative results, this exercise has helped build relationships between agencies and a common understanding of complementary priorities. Based on the results of this evaluation and subsequent prioritization of the recommendations, the Steering Committee plans to develop a health impact assessment guidebook, a set of exposure reduction-focused best management practices and a stakeholder engagement strategy in the coming months.
