An urban expressway traffic incident detection system is designed from two modules that are incident detection module and incident alarm module. In incident detection module, based on the variation of traffic flow parameters (velocity, volume and occupancy) which upstream and downstream have before and after traffic incidents happened, the model of wavelet analysis-neural network is built using the data that fused upstream and downstream traffic flow parameters. In incident alarm module, based on the visualization characteristics of LabVIEW, the incident alarming module is designed. And the modules are unified with the Script Node which is the interface between LabVIEW and Matlab. Then a system is developed and verified under a simple scenario with the stimulation traffic flow data acquired from VISSIM.
