This chapter proposed an optimized three-wire shortwave broadband antenna structure for ionospheric vertical sounding. The kind of ionospheric Ⅵ sounding antenna was designed through FEKO software optimization and simulation, and the corresponding impedance converter was also schemed out. Compared with a CPIVIS antenna, this new Ⅵ antenna has much better performances. The smallest gain of the three-wire vertical sounding antenna designed here is -40 dB while the frequency is 1 MHz. When the frequency is higher than 5 MHz, the antenna gain is greater than 0 dB; when the frequency is higher than 6 MHz, the antenna vertical gain is larger than 5 dB.
