Along with the wide application of GIS, the operational reliability of GIS and the insulation defect diagnosis have become a hot issue which causes common concern in the power system. This chapter presents a GIS PD forecasting methodology based on the fractal dimension and catastrophe theory. This methodology uses the fractal dimension of GIS PD as variables to predict the GIS PD development. The mutation point data can be got by analyzing the test data of GIS PD. This chapter shows the effectiveness and feasibility of the methodology. This methodology has a certain theoretical significance and practical value.
