Solar PV technology has been established to be reliable in supplementing the electricity demand in some areas, and means of solving some electricity power crises in off grid areas in different countries. The major question is despite the huge investments in the renewable energy sector, are the deliverables really worth the expenses spent on the installation and maintenance. The purpose of this study is to find out the impact analysis, the functionality of an existing grid connected solar photo voltaic (PV) system located at Srishakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology (SIET) with an installed capacity of 300 KWp in total. This study was achieved through proper observation, remote monitoring and regular surveillance of the system, and the data were carefully obtained and analyzed in real time through IOT based iPLON controller. Energy output from solar PV systems and emission level of CO2 for the energy yield were compiled and analyzed.
