In the recent day's one of the predominant reasons for the crop loss in fields is due to the loss of fertility of the land on which irrigation is taking place. This loss of fertility is mainly due to the indecorous application of fertilizers. This paper proposes an innovative, effective yet affordable approach of irrigation which is interconnected and controlled by a network by knowing the fertility content of the soil. This paper also proposes a new electronic assistive system designed by employing ARM cortex M3 processor and ion-selective electrodes along with GSM module. This system analyses the fertility content of the soil and provides the results for planned irrigation which has the potential to replace the conventional irrigation which is entirely based on guess work. This proposed system also provides a user friendly GUI for the user to know about the soil fertility content and add fertilizers to the field accordingly thereby using the field in an efficiently without affecting its fertility. Consequently by this method the land can be utilized without affecting its fertility for a long time.
