In this paper, a high gain low-power down-conversion Gilbert cell mixer, designed in 180 nm RF CMOS process, is proposed to realize the receiver front-end working at 2.4 GHz frequency. The proposed mixer can convert a 2.4 GHz RF signal into a 100 MHz intermediate frequency (IF) signal to, with a local oscillator power of 5 dBm at 2.3 GHz. A comparison with conventional voltage-mode down-conversion mixer shows that this mixer has advantages of low voltage, low power consumption and high performance. Simulation results demonstrate that at 2.4 GHz, the circuit provides 25.00 dB of conversion gain and the input-referred third-order intercept point (IIP3) of -17.78 dBm. The circuit consumed 8.660 mW power. The chip area is only 0.405 mm ×0.246 mm.
