Direct Power Control strategy for variable speed Wind Energy Conversion System based on PMSM Generator

This paper deals with the modeling and control of a Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) based on a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG). The WECS operate at variable speed and the control algorithm is based on Direct Power Control (DPC) with an AC/DC conversion system with a PI controller for the DC bus output. The laboratory test system is developed with an emulator of a wind turbine and a PMSG with the AC/DC conversion system. Furthermore, the simulations were validated by experimental studies, with the speed of variation generated by a servo motor, which provides a profile of the true wind speed where we have also emulate the wind turbine by an emulator that was generated by the Active servo software. And the algorithm was been implemented with a control DSpace 1104 board using MATLAB Simulink. The experimental results were validated by the laboratory test.
