This paper presents a comparative study between two control solutions developed for a boost converter. The first one is a P.I. controller developed using a linear model for the converter and implemented in Matlab/Simulink. The second one is a fuzzy controller which takes into account the error between the reference voltage and converter's output and also the integral of this error. Fuzzy controller implementation is performed by two sub-controllers with one input and one output, their output being summed. This solution has the advantage of a smaller number of inference rules for the entire controller and the controller can be tuned easier.
