COMPARISON OF SEPARATED BASE FLOW USING VARIOUS SEPARATION METHODS

Recently, there has been signifi cant adverse effect on the hydrological cycle and waterenvironment caused by climate changes. Particularly, groundwater level has continuouslydeclined due to the drought, rapid urbanization, and groundwater over-exploitation. Aturbanized watersheds, there could be problems in managing groundwater level, which islargely affected by base fl ow. The groundwater estimation is closely related to the separationof base fl ow, and many researches have been conducted to predict it accurately. In this study,several base fl ow separation methods (Ground-water depletion curve, Straight line, N-Day anddigital fi ltering method) were used to estimate and predict base fl ow separation in the studywatershed. The separated base fl ow using various methods were compared and analyzed.Also, As a result of this study, various uncertainties were found to exist for estimation of thebase fl ow separation for long-term simulation. In particular, current digital fi ltering methodwas considerably infl uenced by a variable which can refl ect the condition of aquifer whenit estimates base fl ow separation. Based on the results, accurate analysis of the base fl owseparation methods should be performed to estimate the quantifi ed variables.
