The objectives of this study were to evaluate rice yields and to assess the fertilizer reductioneffect of reclaimed wastewater irrigation on paddy fi elds. For this research, the EPIC modelwas used to assess the crop stress and analyze the fertilizer reduction effects. The modelwas validated using data of 2006 to 2008 and the coeffi cient of determination for the yieldwas 0.91. The stress index was evaluated to consider the fertilization effects. N stress wasconsidered as a critical factor affecting rice growth and yield on paddy fi elds irrigated withreclaimed wastewater. The simulated result on paddy fi eld irrigated with reclaimed wastewaterand about 40% of the conventional fertilizer amounts showed generally similar tendencywith the groundwater irrigation (control) plot. It means reclaimed wastewater irrigation has asignifi cant fertilizer reduction effect compared to conventional practices. This fi nding impliesthat reclaimed wastewater may be considered a reasonable alternative water resource forrice irrigation and contributes to reduce water environmental concerns, although long-termmonitoring is needed to clearly understand its effects.
