摘要

This paper discusses a practical concept for utilizing information created in ship design, engineering, and construction for more efficient information management; within the shipbuilding process, as well as for the operation and maintenance of ships. It discusses a solution for managing technical information on-line, from concept to operation and maintenance of the ship via the design, engineering, production, commissioning and start-up phases. Database-driven and intelligent 3D ship design software is used as an integrating management tool. The technical information from different project phases can be located and utilized by all project parties with the use of a simple user interface and integration tools. This ensures that correct and up-to-date information is easily available to all users in participating organizations and the supplier network, including design, engineering, work planning, production, installation, purchasing, management and ship operators. Example cases of the solution implementation are presented in this paper.
