A double-cone flowmeter with the advantages of simple structure and easier fabrication is presented, by which some efforts have been made to measure the parameters of air-water two-phase flow. The measurement model is established for gas volume fraction through the non-dimensional analysis of characteristic values of differential pressure signals. On the basis of investigation of average differential pressures and presented measurement models, the good linear relationship is investigated between Lockhart-Martinelli constant and the quasi-ration of gas flowrate. A modified Murdock flowrate measurement model is demonstrated that is fit for the double-cone flowmeter to measure gas-liquid flow. The experiment results show that the measurement models of gas volume fraction provides good performance in a given measuring range with the errors less than 6%. The measurement errors of total mass flowrate and liquid flowrate are less than 6% by using the modified Murdock model.
