A reliable and sensitive indirect competitive enzymelink immunosorbent assay was set up using monoclonal antibody specific against minocycline and applied to the quantitative determination of minocycline residues in milk. After the optimization of the main parameters, 50% inhibition (IC50) of 1.25μgL-1and the limit of detection of 0.16μgL-1 for minocycline were reached, no cross-reactivity was observed with the structurally similar compounds. The analytical potential of the immunoassay was demonstrated by the excellent recoveries obtained (mean value ranging between 81% and 94%) when determining minocycline residues in milk samples with a simple sample preparation procedure. The obtained results were confirmed the suitability of the assay as screening method for either food monitoring or laboratory quantification of minocycline residues.
