Adding different amounts of the hybrid nanocomposite silicon dioxide-copper phthalocyanine to coconut short oil based paint enhanced the corrosion prevention performance significantly with regard to steel. The nanonature of the composite was confirmed by AFM andTEM. Investigations the protection efficiency of the paint was assisted by potentiodynamic, impedance spectroscopy and salt spray test. The enhancement of the protection efficiency has been attributed to the filling properties of nanoparticles silicon dioxide by adsorption, hardening and dispersing power of copper phthalocyanine. This envisions were confirmed by adhesion test.
