Economical justification of solar power plants in Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a state, has a considerably advantageous geostrategic position, which is why this is an area with large amounts of unused energetic potential, especially when it comes to renewable energy sources. There are favourable conditions for exploitation of solar energy, wind energy, hydro energy and biomass energy. Solar energy as a renewable source is the most interesting type of energy to observe in the area of Herzegovina. It is a general fact that this area is exposed to strong solar radiation, and that there are many sunny days a year. Generally speaking, aside from other types of renewable energy sources, the largest potential lies in the energy of the Sun. With all the mentioned favourable characteristics, this branch of RES has not been developed to the extent to which it should have been. Relatively little is done on usage of this resource. The reason for that is the high price of equipment, slow solving of legal matters regarding construction, but also insufficient awareness of political and economical structures. That is why one of the goals of this paper is to describe the actual state of economical justification of construction and exploitation of solar power plants with the aim of attracting potential investors. A short analisis of the steps needed to start producing electric power from sun power has been made in this work. At the same time an analisis of defects in the mentioned process has been made. Besides, natural potentials of the region have been described in the work, first of all solar power potentials, and an analisis of financial payable investment in building formation for producing eletric power from sun power has also been done.
