This paper presents the simulation results for the evaluation of the energy savings potential of a load-sharing HVAC system, which provides heating and cooling energy to both house and office building. The EnergyPlus-7 simulation program was used for energy modeling. The two buildings (a house and an office) have the same geometry with the conditioned space of 200 m~2 each located in Incheon, South Korea. Total of four modeling cases were developed; Case-1) a house, Case-2) an office, Case-3) a simple sum of the two cases (i.g., Case-2+Case3), and Case-4) a load-sharing model. The results show that the load sharing HVAC system saved the peak heating demand of 21% and peak cooling demand of 19% compared to those of the baseline or Case-3. Considerable heating and cooling energy savings were achieved through the optimal design process that implemented the design scenario of attached construction between the house and the office.
