摘要

The aim of this study is to explore the feasible options renewable resources including solar and wind based hybrid configurations, to supply electricity to the communities in the suburbs of Dire Dawa city ( 9°36'N 41°52'E) in Ethiopia and also to the inhabitants in the extensively built condominiums in the city. The work is accomplished by first investigating the solar and wind energy potentials in the region. A topology dependent model of estimating global solar radiation from sunshine hour records will be developed and applied to estimate the solar resource potential. The wind data is obtained from National Meteorological Service Agency of the country.
