We present a conceptual microwave photonics radar architecture with programmable central-frequency and tailorable bandwidth. It is a coherent system. Generation of linearly chirped waveforms and Reception of theirs echoes are implemented via the same mode-locked laser. Photonic time-stretch sampling is used to alleviate electronic processing.
