ENERGY SURVEY AND MEETING ENERGY DEMAND OF UN-ELECTRIFIED VILLAGES THROUGH RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES IN THE CHAR AREAS OF MALDA DISTRICT OF WEST BENGAL

摘要

Energy study in selected char villages of Malda carried out for WBREDA West Bengal, aimed and designed to meet energy demand to the unelectrified villages in the char areas of Malda district through renewable energy sources. The paper presents the design, implementation and outcome of the energy survey of the char areas of Malda district to find out the energy demand and recommendation to meet energy demand of those un-electrified villages through renewable energy sources. The project aims at providing electricity to the people of these char villages generated by various renewable sources available in the area. Data was collected and analysed by of IISWBM and WBREDA as a part of survey of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India funded the project. Since grid connected electricity is not possible in those char villages due to its geographic location so electricity generated by renewable means is the only way out. Thus, WBREDA, with the help of MNRE, is making an effort to provide electricity to the people living in such remote villages in West Bengal. Barriers to the project activity as well as project contribution to sustainable development have also been discussed in the paper.
