Current economic conditions limit the ability of industrial customers to invest in capital improvement projects. In this economic environment, the opportunity to invest in no cost/low cost energy efficiency measures is an attractive option for facility managers. A compressed air retro commissioning program has been developed and implemented as a part of the energy efficiency portfolio for the Ameren Illinois ActOnEnergy~® Program. This program leverages the skills and experience of a pool of retro commissioning service providers (RSPs) to conduct retro commissioning surveys. Program incentives are used to defray a significant portion of the survey cost. Facilities have implemented a range of energy efficiency measures with a 0-1 year simple payback which typically include leak repairs, controls tune-ups, and resolution of inappropriate uses of compressed air. This program has generated significant savings for industrial customers, provided a roadmap for future capital projects, and has proven to be cost effective for the utility. This paper will provide insight into the design and delivery of these programs; describe success stories resulting from completed projects; and share plans for future program enhancements.
