The Pragmatic Teaching of Polite Language in English

摘要

Politeness, existed in a variety of cultures and linguistic environments, controls people's words and action and harmonizes people's communication. Therefore, politeness is an utterly important factor when people communicate with each other.Therefore, in English teaching the pragmatic teaching of polite language can not be ignored.The politeness theory as well as a couple of concrete methods of expressing polite language is illustrated and also helps language teachers and students in developing ability to properly using language.
