During the Anti-Japanese War, Chongqing was the capital of China in war time, the Kuomintang government was transferred to Chongqing City. Many institutes, mining plants, enterprises, schools, cultural and financial units, etc. all moved here, which was accompanied with entrance of large population from enemy-occupied area into Chongqing. Housing shortage became severe. It was a hard mission for the government at that time to solve the residence problem of so many people. The dissertation, through research and documentation checking, initially made conclusion on three ways of solving residence problem based on different levels, analysis on influence from huge amount of immigrants to the city, huge difficulty of residence problem and existed problems.
