Effects of retention groove location and dimensions of threaded glass fiber post on the maximum retention force of the restorative system and the maximum equivalent stress in the root were numerically investigated. Results show that the retention groove can effectively enhance retention ability and reduce the stress in the root. And the maximum retention force of the restorative system can be increased by 5% and the maximum equivalent stress in the root decreased by 3% compared with corresponding maximum values if location and dimensions vary in the range studied here. The maximum retention force is more sensitive to retention groove distance while the maximum equivalent stress in the root is more seriously affected by retention groove depth.
