Study on the relationship between urban construction land change and economic development in HangZhou based on remote sensing

It is an important and basic work for the sustainable development research on cities to learn the relations between economic development and the variation of urban construction land, and for the modeling and prediction as well. This paper makes a case study in Hangzhou, compares the process of urban expansion in the central, near-central and suburban areas, acquiring the information of construction land in the year 1978∼2007 based on remote sensing and GIS techniques. In the paper, GDP, Per Capita Disposable Income, GDP of the Second Industry and the GDP of the Third Industry are chosen as economic indicators, so as to analyze their relations with landuse of urban construction. It is learned that the urban construction land significantly expanded; the urbanization process in the central city had finished, the development of large areas almost finished in the near-central areas, and during a stage of developing large areas in the suburban areas. The intensity of development has decreased. It is one of the strong driving forces to the urban development that the standard of living and economy has been improved ever since the Reform and Open, and the impact of industrial structure on the urban landuse has emerged.
