Present-day concepts of electrochemical corrosion mechanism with oxygen depolarization in hydrocarbon environments are based on the ideas of their heterogeneity, which is attributable to the presence of water phase in hydrocarbon environment. In this case hydrocarbons are considered to be hydrophobic, indifferent, diffusion medium, which accumulates oxygen. Science development during last decades and new data appeared with regard to hydrocarbon feed processing technologies, hydrocarbon chemistry and fuel chemmotology require revising and updating the concepts of corrosion mechanism in hydrocarbon environments. Literature search on the topic permits to detect that there are actually no data about the influence of products on the mechanism and kinetics of carbon steel corrosion. Anyway investigations in this field are of interest at this time since knowledge of the specific corrosion regularities at the conditions of coupled corrosion and liquid autooxidation processes can provide valuable information for deeper understanding of the essence of corrosion in hydrocarbon environments.
