As was extensively discussed in the previous paragraphs, China, India and other developing countries use more energy as their population and economy expand very rapidly. This implies that the contribution to GHG emissions from the energy sector will continue to go high.As such, the energy sector needs to make better-structured and intensive efforts to reduce GHG emissions taking into consideration the cost for GHG reduction.Nuclear electricity is highly competitive from economic and environmental perspectives as a means to ensure stable energy supply and to address global warming. As nuclear power will deliver further benefits in the future, expectations are high for the role of nuclear power with many countries either reviewing or constructing additional power plants.
