“Culture”, “Workmanship” and “Power Relation”: A Perspective of Value Chain Governance - The Empirical Analysis of Manufacturing Firms of Specialty Products in Guizhou Minority Nationalties

Based on the literature review of the value chain governance and from the perspective of micro research on enterprise, this paper describes the value chain of the manufacturing firms of specialty products in minority nationalities and the key factors of geographical and cultural characteristics in value chain governance. Through the survey of the manufacturing firms in Guizhou Minority Nationalities, it also proves the hypothesis that the potential for more economic rent can be obtained with the use of ethnic culture and traditional techniques by the manufacturing firms of specialty products in ethnic minority areas. Namely, there might be an economic agent of master control in the manufacturing firms of specialty products in ethnic minority areas, who chases more economic rent in the value creation and benefits distribution during organization, coordination or control. The research results help to further understand the essence of the relationship between the participants in the value chain of minority business, so as to provide the policy reference for the forms of governance and upgrading strategy of specialty industries in minority nationalities.
