Clipping reduction algorithm using backlight luminance compensation for local dimming in liquid crystal displays
Local dimming techniques cause clipping artifacts in liquid crystal displays. To overcome the artifacts, backlight luminance should be compensated, which requires additional power consumption. In this work we propose a novel backlight luminance compensation algorithm to reduce clipping artifacts by minimizing increment of backlight luminance.
