Overcoming LID Implementation Barriers

A flexible Low Impact Development rating system is needed to provide development teams with the flexibility to decide how best to accomplish Low Impact Development on individual sites but still provide a minimum level of LID required techniques to satisfy the regulatory agencies involved in project approvals.An LID point system formatted similarly to that of USGBC's LEED system created to establish minimum requirements. The LID point system can be ratcheted up if found to be too lenient, and provides recognition for projects that exceed the minimum requirements. It also defined minimum requirements (prerequisites) for projects that had to adhere to Attachment 4 criteria and for those that didn't.
