Remote Sensing Technique Application in the Research of Ancient Cities A Case Study in Changhua Ancient City of Hainan Province

The advantages remote sensing technique brings play an important role in archaeological research. Firstly, the location and history of Changhua Ancient City were introduced. Then, we interpreted the aerial photos with eyes and image processing technique in order to locate and recognize the margins of the ancient city. After field research, we marked the entire border of the city on the aerial photo. Finally, we calculated the perimeter and area of the ancient city and got the same result as the record of ancient Hainan chorography, which also revised the result of previous Cultural Relic General Survey.
