JAXA has been developing Micro-GAIA; GPS aided inertial navigation avionics using MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems). However, precision of MEMS inertial sensors is low at this time, and there is the problem that inertial navigation errors increase rapidly during GPS outages. Therefore, to improve the accuracy of Micro-GAIA, we developed the next prototype of Micro-GAIA using FOG (Fiber Optic Gyro) and performed the evaluation.
