Field Survey and Analysis of Student Flat Indoor Thermal Environment in Winter

Based on the lack of studies on indoor thermal environment in residential buildings in China, taking two set of student flats in Qujing Normal University as test rooms, a three-day field survey of indoor thermal environment has been carried out in the present paper. The indoor thermal environment of the two flats is comparatively analyzed by using predicted mean vote /predicted percentage of dissatisfied (PMV/PPD) model. The data indicates that PMV indices fluctuate from -1.10 to -0.65 and from -0.97 to -0.47 for the south-facing room B with a south-facing window and the north-facing room A with a north-facing window, and most of them are less than -0.50. The corresponding PPD values range from 30% to 14.5% and from 24% to 10%. It is evident that the indoor thermal comfort of Room B is better than that of Room A. The relationships between the main indoor and outdoor parameters are also discussed by using the linear regression technique. Many correlations with high relativities have been obtained and they provide people an easy way to predict and assess the indoor thermal environment. The results of this work enrich and develop the basic theory of indoor thermal environment in China.
