Color Prediction for Blends of Pre-colored Wool

A blending with pre-colored fibers is widely used in textiles,especially wool textiles.But it is difficult to predict the proportions of the pre-colored fibers to the target color precisely.In this paper,based on Stearns-Noechel model,color matching formulation for blends from pre-colored wool top was studied.Through statistical analyzing of the constant M defined by Stearns and Noechel,the Stearns-Noechel formula was modified and a new formula was proposed.Compared with the old formula,the result showed that the new model could not only improve the matching accuracy,but also had a good linear correlation.Especially,the new model was used to predict 90 wool top blended samples,the color difference △E lower than 3.0 ClELAB units was obtained and these took 91.11% of all samples.The average of these color differences were only 1.679 ClELAB units.This result indicated that the improved model was much suitable for color prediction of blends from pre-colored wool top.
