Three experiments were set up to investigate the cultivation of sweetpotato multi-line mixture.The study focused on:1)the root yield and incidence and damage traits of C.formicarius and O.anastomosalis,2)the difference between multi-line mixtures and comparable pure-line blocks and 3)the effect of genetic diversity in multi-line mixtures.Significant different among pure-line and multi-line mixture were found for the root yield and main pest damage traits in two experiments.Further analysis confirmed that a better or poorer yield perform than the corresponding pure-line blocks,indicating that other environmental factors played a role in the final output.Most of multi-line mixtures showed heavier damage on root from C.formicarius,it also appeared the exception that some multi-line mixtures had less pest damage.The level of genetic diversity in multi-line clones did not exhibit relationship with the gain or loss in root yield and pest damage.Analysis and discussion were also given to correlation between root yield and pest incidence and damage traits,and other relevant issues.
