Study on Minimum Safe Distance between Railway Out-of-Gauge Goods and Structures

According to present regulations, at least 200mm must be kept between railway out-of-gauge goods and structures, which is based on regulations of the former Soviet Union and lack of foundation. The minimum safe distance between out-of-gauge goods and structure depends on the rolling-swaying vibration offsets. The model of rolling-swaying vibration offsets is put forward by means of Simpack. The calculation results are gotten under different unfavorable condition. Based on this, the minimum safe distance of different height from top of rail between out-of-gauge goods and structure and relative maximum running speed are determined. The distance will be important not only to guarantee the safety of out-of-gauge good transport but also to fully utilize structure clearance. And it also provide basis for improving Chinese Regulations on Transportation of Railway Out-of-gauge Goods and Overweight Goods.
