The present study is on the thermokinetic analysis of Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) data from the decomposition of Cu_2OCl_2 (Methanothallite). The study focuses on the prediction of the reactivity in extended temperature ranges and under temperature conditions for which experimental data collection is difficult. Adequate predictive examination of the investigated reaction is carried out with different heating rates in the range of 0.5 to 20 K/min. More generally, applying the results obtained from DTA using advanced numerical techniques enables the prediction of the reactivity over a broad temperature range. These methods will be compared with more traditional kinetic analyses. The effects of oxygen on the course of this reaction will also be presented.
