Increasing concerns about high energy consumption, dependency on fossil fuels, and antropogenic factors influencing climate change are driving industry and academia to find more efficient and sustainable ways to produce power, cooling, and heating. The improvement in coefficient of performance of a transcritical carbon dioxide combined cooling, heating, and power system that utilizes solar collectors to increase the amount of power and hot water generated is shown numerically. The results obtained for representative operating conditions show an increase of 16% in the COP compared to a transcritical air-conditioning-only system.
