The University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) Center for Energy Research has completed the efficiency analysis and modeling of the Integral Collection Storage unit installed its Zero Energy Home. Average efficiency range was calculated from a series of week long experiments in which water was drawn with a controlled draw profile. Different draw profiles where used test the ICS unit's performance at both high and low extremes as well as in a normal load range. Calculated average efficiencies ranged from 5.65% to 25.2%, reaching its highest efficiency under the highest loads, and its lowest efficiency under the lowest loads. To get a clear picture of the ICS unit's performance a model was made which could calculate instantaneous efficiency under any load. The instantaneous efficiency of the ICS unit peaked at 98% during the period of initial solar incidence and dropped logorithmatically afterwards.
