摘要

Hydrogen is potentially one of the major clean fuels of the future. Although it is produced through many technologies, fermentative H_2 production using solid wastes is an attractive renewable energy option for the Clean Developing Mechanism (CDM) and Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROC). The calorific value of H_2 is 142.35kJ.gm~(-1), whereas for CH4 it is only 44kJ.gm~(-1) and it has been estimated that around 0.1m~3.hr~(-1) of H_2 is required to produce 1kW capacity of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) (Levin et al., 2004), and 0.4 to 0.5m~3.hr~(-1) of CH_4 is required to produce 1kW of power using a biogas CHP engine.
