Based on the analysis of the characteristic of landscape and remote sensing information of Charerhan lake area, decision tree method was adopted to study the soil salinization of the area.With the previous research on the decision tree classification algorithm, a map of soil salinization is made from the multi-band ETM remote sensing data.The Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI), Soil Brightness Index, and Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) are used to distinguish and classify the different land types. Results show the decision tree is useful and convenient in monitoring study of soil salinization.
