We propose new driving method using 4-terminal electrode structure for BCSN LCDs, providing higher process tolerance. It shows much more uniform switching behavior for the transition from π twist to splay than previously proposed driving method using 3-terminal electrode structure. The transition speed becomes faster at low driving voltage because more effective switching field is applied. The switching characteristics of new driving method are described.
