Synthesis of Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (YAG: Ce ) Phosphor by Co-precipitation Method

YAG'Ce precursor was prepared by a co-precipitation method from a mixed solution with aluminum, cerium and yttrium ions, and Y3Al5O12: Ce3+ phosphor was successfully synthesized after baking the as-prepared precursors up to 1 100°C and reducing by N2/H2 atmosphere at 1 400°C. The XRD and SEM analysis indicate that the YAG:Ce phosphor powders have better particle shape and smaller particle size than phosphor prepared by high temperature solid state reaction method. The luminescence spectrum analysis show that, the YAG:Ce phosphor shows a strong fluorescence emission when excited by 465 nm blue light.
