CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES OF EXCAVATION AND SUPPORTOF 600M HIGH SLOPE AT RIGHT BANK OF XIAOWAN Hydropower Station

Slope at the right bank of Xiaowan Hydropower Station is 600m – 700m high, theslope is steep, the geological conditions are complicated, and the construction is intense and highlydifficult. It’s a difficult issue to people as how to construct the high slope safely and expeditiously.Under the guidance of national famous hydropower experts like Academinican Mr. Ma Hongqi andProfessor Zhang Zhenyu, and with the joint effort of the participating units, the difficulties werefinally resolved, and the safe and expidite construction of high slope was realized. This papersummarizes the major construction techniques and methods adopted in the high slope construction.
