Comparing with the structure without dampers, the following highlights the principal findings: a) The reduction or increase of the overall response of the story drift, when installing hysteretic dampers, is scarcely influenced by the vertical distribution of the story stiffnesses and shear strengths of the main frame. However, the difference in the story drift response slightly increases with increasing values of . b) On the contrary, the vertical distribution of the story shear strengths of the main frame has a significant effect on the vertical distribution of the reduction or increase of the story drift demand. This influence is attributed to the fact that the entire system behaves differently, depending on the level of the story shear strength.
