Performance of a two-stage rotary compressor for a two-temperature-evaporation two-stage-compression refrigerator/freezer

A prototype two-stage rotary compressor for a two-temperature-evaporation two-stage-compression refrigerator/freezer was manufactured and tested. The characteristics of the compressor are that the first- and second-stage displacements are the same and that the inside of the compressor case is at an intermediate pressure. The coefficient of performance (COP) of the two-stage-compressor prototype is 30% better than that of a conventional one-stage compressor for a one-temperature-evaporation one-stage-compression refrigerator/freezer, mainly because of the contribution of its refrigeration-cycle configuration featuring two-temperature evaporation and intercooling.
