The effects of furnace temperature, coal type and water content on SO_2 emission derived from Coal water slurry (CWS) combustion are studied in a bed reactor. It is found that the SO_2 emission percentage and rate derived from CWS combustion are lower than those from the parent pulverized coal combustion. The SO_2 emission derived from CWS combustion decreases with a decrease in furnace temperature or sulfur content in the parent coal. When the water content in CWS is promoted, the SO_2 emission percentage decreases and the characteristic times corresponding to sulfur release rate peaks are postponed.
